Lucid dream mostly occur when you are aware that you’re dreaming.

Lucid dream shows that you are able to recognize your thoughts and emotions while the dream occurs.
Most times you can be able to control the lucid dreams. You might be able to change the people you see , environment, or thoughts. However this form  of dream  control could potentially reduce nightmares.

When lucid dreaming occurs

During your sleeping hours, your brain cycles throughout Rapid eye movement (REM) sleep and non-REM sleep.
The Non-REM sleep involves three divided stages. On non-REM, your brain waves, heartbeats, and eye movements gradually slows down.
During REM sleep, your brain is extremely active. Your heart rate and eye movements also increase.
Lucid dreaming, just like  most dreams, usually occurss during REM sleep.
In a lucid dream, you know that you are dreaming. You are also aware of your awarenes  the dream state.

About 55 % of people have challenged experience of one or more lucid dreams in their dream state. However, steady  lucid dreaming is difficult. Only 23 %  or less  person have lucid dreams at least once a month.

How to experience lucid dreams

To explore lucid dreaming, try the following tips:

Get more REM sleep

However lucid dreaming normally occurs  during REM sleep, spending more time in this stage will increase your chances of lucid dreaming.

To practice good sleep hygiene:

  • Follow a sleep schedule.
  • Exercise daily.
  • Avoid electronics before bed.
  • Create a relaxing sleep environment.
  • Avoid caffeine and alcohol before bed.

Even if you don’t have lucid dream, these habits will help you get good sleep.

Keep a dream journal for lucid dream

So Many person uses a dream journal, or dream book,  to keep up  lucid dreaming.
Writing down your dreams state hepls you to recall them. This is thought to help your brain become more aware of dreaming.
To keep a dream journal, keep a notebook and pen near your reach after your dream . Write down your dream as soon as you wake up. Read your journal regularly to familiarize your brain with your dreams.

Practice reality testing of lucid dream.

Your level of consciousness is similar when you’re awake and dreaming. So, by increasing your awareness during your waking state, you can enhance your awareness during your dreaming state.
Reality testing is a popular way to do this. It trains your mind to recognize your own awareness while you’re awake.
